Position Overview:

Oversees, organizes and coordinates the overall operation of Environmental Services, including staffing and work assignments of Environmental Services Aides. Directs, implements and updates policies, procedures and protocols to streamline workflow, improve efficiency, and strengthen quality assurance. Ensures the timely delivery of cleaning services and oversees the efficient maintenance and operation of all equipment and supplies. Serves as the liaison between Environmental Services and staff, physicians, patients, family and other hospital staff. Routinely performs all duties of an Environmental Services Aide, as needed. Ensures services are provided in a manner consistent with best practices, accreditation standards and State and Federal regulations.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
  • Assesses and monitors the environmental services workload and assigns duties, adjusts assignments, and provides input and assistance to fellow staff.
  • Oversees or performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas of the facility.
  • Ensures the completion of routine and priority tasks within established departmental time frames.
  • Mentors and fosters a constructive environment that helps students and new Environmental Services Aides build confidence in their skills, knowledge, and abilities.

CLERICAL
  • Performs general clerical tasks, such as answering phones and interacting with customers and patients on a daily basis.
  • Prepares and completes accurate, job related documentation including recording all spills, chemical and otherwise, maintaining inventory, and completing incident reports in medical and departmental records as required.

SAFETY
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment after use.
  • Inspects equipment accordingly for proper working order, reporting any insufficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Follows department safety and sanitation standards including proper use of chemicals and personal protective equipment.

COMPLIANCE
  • Performs job responsibilities in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of service.

EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:


4 years of recent relevant experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Keen problem-solving ability; comfortable performing in unforeseen scenarios and quickly changing from one task to another.

Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Possess written and verbal communication skills to communicate with fellow team members, supervisors, patients, and other hospital personnel.

Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

Operates basic environmental service equipment including mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, washers, dryers, and more.

Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions,

Pay Range: $31.63 - $37.95

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
